As a member of The Potato Association of America, you will receive numerous benefits:

Six (6) issues of the American Journal of Potato Research, published bi-monthly and an annual index of authors. A new benefit starting in 2008 was adding electronic access to the American Journal of Potato Research (formerly the American Potato Journal) through the Springer/PAA website back to 1923. Also through the Springer website and your PAA membership, you will receive a 20% discount on "any" publication you wish to purchase. Just let them the Springer sales person know you are a member of The Potato Association of America at the time of purchase to receive the discount. New joint ventures between the EAPR and the PAA, allow for electronic access to their "Potato Research" journal and they have electronic access to the AJPR/APJ. Members will be able to research and print off articles from all journals. Non-members are able to see the website; however, they are only able to get as far as the abstract before being asked to pay a premium to see the rest of the article. What more incentive do you need to become a member?

Only members will have access to the PAA Website's Members Only section, which includes the Annual Meeting minutes, Section information and minutes, online access to journals mentioned above, etc.  This is where all contact information is now located for PAA members under "Find a Member." This will list name, address, phone/fax, e-mail (if member requests to have listed), and sections affiliated with.

Membership lets you will receive reduced registration rates ($100-125) and voting rights at the annual meeting; gives you access to research leaders in the potato industry; and be part of exploring the development of forming a closer collaboration with the European potato industry. Your membership also gives you the ability to have complimentary announcements sent out through PAA and PotatoNet e-mail memberships such as for job openings, upcoming meetings, new publications you've been involved with and want to let members know they are available, etc..

POSTAGE RATES: THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL POSTAGE RATES FOR DELIVERY OF THE JOURNALS NOW THAT SPRINGER JOURNALS IS THE PUBLISHER AND DISTRIBUTOR. THERE MAY BE ADDITIONAL POSTAGE FEES WHEN PURCHASING BACK ISSUES OF JOURNALS AND WISH TO HAVE THEM SHIPPED BY AIRMAIL.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

1. Individual: $100.00 U.S. for one year’s membership. Includes all benefits as listed above.  Any person who pays annual dues may become an individual member with all rights and privileges of membership and receive for a period of one year the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF POTATO RESEARCH with electronic access to it, and other publications authorized by the Executive Committee.

2. Honorary Life - No membership fee. Honorary Life Membership may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Committee to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the interests of The Association or the potato industry. Not more than four new Honorary Life Members shall be elected at any Annual Meeting. Honorary Life Members are entitled to all membership rights and privileges, shall receive for a period of one year the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF POTATO RESEARCH, followed by a lifetime of electronic access to the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF POTATO RESEARCH and AMERICAN POTATO JOURNAL; PAA Insider, other publications authorized by the Executive Committee, and are not obligated to pay dues. Biographies of newly elected Honorary Life Members shall appear in the official publication of The Association following their election at the Annual Meeting

3. Graduate Student - $20.00 U.S. for one year’s membership.  Any person enrolled in an accredited college or university is eligible for student membership. Students must have the signature of their Major Professor/Advisor to certify eligibility. Student members shall receive for a period of one year electronic access of the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF POTATO RESEARCH and other publications authorized by the Executive Committee.

4. Emeritus Membership - $35.00 U.S. for one year's membership. Emeritus membership status may be granted to any person who pays the appropriate dues, has previously held an individual membership, and has retired from their professional position.  Emeritus members are entitled to all membership rights and privileges and shall receive for a period of one year the PAA Insider, electronic access of the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF POTATO RESEARCH, and other publications authorized by the Executive Committee.

5. Sustaining - $500.00 U.S. for one year’s membership. Sustaining membership may be granted to any person, firm, association or organization upon payment of Sustaining Membership dues and shall receive for a period of one year the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF POTATO RESEARCH, with electronic access to it, the PAA Insider, and other publications authorized by the Executive Committee. Participation in The Association affairs requires that one individual be designated as representative for the Sustaining Membership. Sustaining members contribute their knowledge, expertise, and professional involvement to ensure the continued strength of The Potato Association of America and promote excellence in the potato. Membership benefits the individual and organization through public recognition of participation in The Potato Association of America, access to technical information through subscription to the publications, and discussions with the general membership at Annual Meetings.
