PAA provides opportunities to contribute in one or more of six sections:


Breeding & Genetics

The primary purpose of the section is to promote discussion, exchange of information and understanding of potato breeding and genetic problems and to encourage research and new approaches to solving these problems.

Certification

The primary purpose of the Certification Section is to strive for improvement of the seed potato industry by:

  • Improving certification procedures.
  • Exchanging information among seed potato workers.​
  • Encouraging research directed toward improvements of seed potato performance.
  • Encouraging uniformity in regulations and identification of seed quality.
  • Encouraging high ethical standards for seed producers, dealers and certification officials.

Extension, Production & Management

The primary purpose of the Extension, Production & Management Section is to encourage research, extension and new approaches toward solving problems and improving methods in potato production and management.

Physiology

The primary purpose of the Physiology Section is to promote discussion, exchange and understanding of potato physiological problems and to encourage research and new approaches to solving these problems.

Plant Protection

The Plant Protection Section serves two major purposes:

  1. to promote communication among people involved in Pathology, Entomology and Weed Control through the exchange and development of concepts dealing with disease and insect aspects of seed and commercial potato production, storage and marketing.
  2. to develop appropriate research, information and /or educational programs through PAA on behalf of its members.

Utilization & Marketing

The primary purpose of the Utilization Section is to promote discussion, understanding of potato utilization problems, and to encourage research and new approaches to solving these problems. This can be accomplished by organizing and sponsoring symposia on selected topics, preparing listing of investigators and their current research program objectives, improving the selection and presentation of research papers at the annual meetings, and sponsoring discussion on immediate and future research pertaining to potato utilization.
